Erasmus+ Research Collaboration — TUZVO Team Visit to MTRC

  From October 11–13, 2025, the Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) in Kabale, Uganda, was honored to host a team from the Technical University of Zvolen (TUZVO) in Slovakia as part of our ongoing Erasmus+ research collaboration with Kabale University (KAB). The joint research focuses on the domestication of wild mushroom species as a sustainable alternative to forest mushroom hunting. By cultivating these species on local substrates, the project aims to promote biodiversity conservation, improve food security, and support environmental sustainability. AAIN Staff Visit MTRC for Potential Incubation Partnership

  We were honored to host   Enock Ampumuza   and   Suzan Watkins , esteemed representatives from the   African Agribusiness Incubators Network (AAIN) , at the   Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) . AAIN is a pan?African network (established in 2014, registered in 2015) dedicated to   “incubating incubators”   — strengthening agribusiness incubation capacity and commercializing agricultural innovations across Africa Staff from MTRC and AAIN share a light moment. During their visit, the delegation received a comprehensive tour of MTRC’s facilities. MTRC Joins the WE4A Bridging Event: Celebrating Women’s Rise from Seed to Scale

  On June 24, 2025, Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) proudly took part in the   Women Entrepreneurship for Africa (WE4A) Bridging Event   in Kampala, an inspiring celebration of women-led innovation and green enterprise across Uganda. Nyabikoni SS Entrepreneurship Class Visits MTRC for Practical Business Exposure

  On 12th June 2025, the Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) had the pleasure of hosting students from   Nyabikoni Secondary School’s Entrepreneurship Class   for a hands-on study visit aimed at enhancing their understanding of business operations, value addition, and sustainable agriculture. Students undergoing a theoretical session The visit was part of the school’s curriculum to expose learners to  real-world business environments  and equip them with practical knowledge to complement their classroom studies. PUM Expert Geert Lemmers Visits MTRC to Support Button Mushroom Project

  We were honored to host Mr. Geert Lemmers, a mushroom cultivation expert from PUM (Programma Uitzending Managers) in the Netherlands, for a three-day technical support visit at the Mushroom Training and Resource Centre (MTRC) from Tuesday, 20th May to Thursday, 22nd May 2025. MTRC team posing with Mr. Geert at the Centre’s Head Office Mr. Lemmers arrived at Katuna border on Tuesday morning and was warmly received by the MTRC team. After checking into his hotel in Kabale, he visited our facility where he toured our site, inspected the container designated to serve as both a bunker and pasteurization unit for our new button mushroom project, and reviewed the compost preparation process currently underway. His expert insights helped us refine our composting approach and improve the efficiency of our operations.   On   April 14th, 2025 , the Mushroom Training and Resource Center (MTRC) was pleased to host a team from the   World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)   and   Uplift the Rural Poor   (URP) for an engaging and productive visit.   On a bright and inspiring day, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of enthusiastic students from   Nyaruhanga High School   at the   Mushroom Training and Resource Center (MTRC) . This educational visit was part of our community outreach and youth empowerment program aimed at introducing young people to   agribusiness opportunities   through hands-on training in   mushroom cultivation .
