Progress Update on Our Button Mushroom Project
At Mushroom Training and Resource Center (MTRC), we are making great strides in our button mushroom project, ensuring every step is carefully executed for a successful harvest. Here’s an update on what we have accomplished so far:
1. Spreading the Straw
We began by carefully spreading bean straw, which serves as the primary growing medium. This step is crucial as it provides the right structure for mushroom growth while retaining moisture and nutrients.

2. Watering the Substrate
Maintaining the right moisture levels is key. We have been regularly watering the straw to keep it adequately hydrated, ensuring the best conditions for mycelium colonization and preventing contamination.

3. Adding Nutrient Supplements
To enhance the quality of the growing medium, we have incorporated essential supplements like:
? Gypsum – Improves substrate structure and regulates pH.
? Chicken Manure & Urea – Provide nitrogen to support strong mycelium growth.

4. Purchasing Essential Equipment
To create optimal growing conditions, we invested in critical equipment, including:
? Thermometers & Hygrometers – To monitor and control temperature and humidity inside the growing area.
? Sprayers & Watering Cans – For maintaining proper moisture levels.
? Protective Gear – Ensuring hygiene and safety during substrate preparation and inoculation.

What’s Next?
With these steps completed, we are now preparing for the pasteurization process, which helps eliminate harmful pathogens and creates a sterile environment for mycelium colonization.
We are excited about the progress and look forward to sharing more updates soon. At MTRC, we remain committed to empowering communities with sustainable mushroom farming skills and expanding opportunities in agribusiness.
