Kabale Secondary School S6 Entrepreneurship Class Trains at MTRC – April 1, 2025
At Mushroom Training and Resource Center (MTRC), we are committed to shaping the next generation of agripreneurs. On April 1, 2025, we had the privilege of hosting the Senior Six Entrepreneurship class from Kabale Secondary School for an in-depth training on mushroom cultivation and agribusiness.

What the Students Learned
The session began with an introduction to MTRC, where students were taken through:
- A brief history of our facility and its growth over the years
- An overview of our staff and their roles in training and mushroom production
- A SWOT analysis of our business—highlighting our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
- Our impact on the community, including youth empowerment and food security
- The factors that favored our location, such as climate, market demand, and resource availability
Following this, the students embarked on a guided tour of our center, where they gained hands-on insights into:

- Substrate preparation and its role in mushroom farming
- Spawn inoculation techniques to ensure healthy mushroom growth
- Mushroom garden management, including optimal temperature and humidity control
- Harvesting and value addition to create market-ready products

Inspiring Future Agripreneurs
The students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and expressing a keen interest in mushroom farming as a business opportunity. This training not only provided them with practical skills but also broadened their understanding of agribusiness as a viable career path.
At MTRC, we believe in empowering youth with hands-on knowledge to drive sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship. We look forward to collaborating with more schools to nurture future agribusiness leaders.
