Empowering Youth Agripreneurs: Distribution of Booster Package

On 11th October 2024, the Mushroom Training and Resource Center (MTRC) marked a significant milestone in youth empowerment and agribusiness development by distributing booster packages to seven youth groups trained under our initiative. This effort was made possible through the generous support of the AVSI Foundation’s SAY Project, which aims to enhance youth employment and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

Purpose of the Booster Packages

The booster packages were designed to equip these youth groups with essential resources needed to expand their agricultural activities and improve productivity. The distribution of these packages aligns with our mission to empower young people in agribusiness and foster self-reliance in their communities.

Contents of the Booster Packages

Each package was thoughtfully curated to address the specific needs of the youth groups and included the following items:

  • Pigs: These will support piggery projects, providing a valuable source of income and nutrition for the groups.
  • One-day-old chicks: Supplied to enhance poultry farming efforts, contributing to local food security and economic growth.
  • Pig and chicken feeds: Ensuring that the livestock receive high-quality nutrition, which is crucial for healthy growth and productivity.
  • Mushroom spawn: Distributed to boost mushroom cultivation, allowing for continuous production and income generation.
  • Solar driers: These innovative tools are designed for effective food preservation, particularly for mushrooms, reducing post-harvest losses.
  • Water pumps: Provided to improve irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water management and enhancing crop productivity.

Impact of the Initiative

The distribution of these booster packages will have a transformative impact on the youth groups, enabling them to:

  • Increase Production: With the necessary resources, the youth can expand their operations and boost their output.
  • Promote Sustainable Practices: The use of solar driers and efficient water management techniques will contribute to more sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Create Employment Opportunities: By scaling their businesses, the youth groups can create jobs within their communities, driving local economic growth.
  • Reduce Post-Harvest Losses: The solar driers will help preserve agricultural products, ensuring they maintain their quality and extend their marketability.

Partnership with AVSI Foundation

This initiative was made possible through the AVSI Foundation’s SAY Project, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN). The SAY Project focuses on equipping youth with the skills and resources needed to thrive in agribusiness, promoting self-employment and economic independence.

Looking Forward

MTRC is dedicated to providing ongoing support and mentorship to these youth groups as they embark on their agribusiness journeys. With the backing of the SAY Project and our commitment to fostering youth entrepreneurship, we are excited to witness the growth and success of these young agripreneurs.
