MUSHROOM TRAINING AND RESOURCE CENTRE

 


MTRC is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) located in Kabale District, 3km from Kabale town along Kabale-Mbarara road in Kabatogote Cell, Kyanamira Sub County. The Centre was established in 2007 and has been fully operational since then, supporting mushroom farmers especially women and youth from various districts across Uganda. MTRC is accredited by Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) under the Ministry of Education and Sports to conduct short certificate courses.




Our vision is to improve livelihoods for present and future generations within rural communities through increased mushroom production and sales.

Our mission is to support rural farmers, especially women and youth with oyster mushroom growing enterprises, which are economically viable, socially and culturally acceptable, and ecologically sustainable.

Our goal is to improve household food security and incomes of communities through establishing self-sustaining mushroom enterprises.



Objectives of MTRC

       To conduct trainings for organized farmer groups that can produce quality fresh and dry mushrooms

       To add value to fresh mushrooms through farther processing

       To explore new market opportunities for mushroom products

       To establish linkages and partnerships at each level of the value chain

Major activities at MTRC;

          Production of quality mushroom spawn

          Production, value addition and marketing of Oyster  mushroom products

          Production and sale of Solar driers

          Training farmers in mushroom production and value addition

          Offering consultancy services
